Sarova Stanley

From the day it opened its doors in 1902 it has been making history hosting royal safaris and a long line of living legends. The beginnings of a hotel from wooden and tin buildings in 1902 on Victoria Street ( Tom Mboya Street) to a larger premises on Government road after the Great Fire in 1905; now known as Moi Avenue.
In 1928, The New Stanley was the venue for a glittering ball for the Royal highness, The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Gloucester. During this period, there was a weeklong public celebration in Nairobi.
Princess Elizabeth and the duke of Edinburgh in 1952 were at Sarova Stanley for a function.
