Sigona Golf Club

Sigona Golf Club has a fine reputation for having some of the most beautiful fairways in Kenya. The Club has a beautiful eighteen-hole country-style golf course which has become very popular with residents and visitors.
Mr. Berkley-Mathews was responsible for the design and construction of the course which was carved out of a wattle tree plantation in 1938. It was one of the few architecturally designed courses in Nairobi.
The first nine-holes were constructed around an elephant' watering hole, which explains the elephant head logo you see today. Originally rows of wattle trees were left to separate the fairways.
Later various shade and ornamental trees such as podo, cape chestnut, 'muringa', cypress and pine, were planted. Mr. Simpson of Lip hook, Hampshire was the course architect who, after making only a few alterations to the initial construction, declared it a championship golf course.

Location
Sigona Club is located in Kikuyu, 18 kilometers, a twenty-minute drive northwest of Nairobi heading towards Lake Naivasha, sitting almost halfway between Nairobi and Limuru.
The Course
Sigona Golf Club is one course, which will test your golf skills along with your physical conditioning. The beautiful 18th hole, which sits in front of the clubhouse, gives the player an idea of what is in store for him. All the greens are as consistent and well maintained as this one.
The men play the course to a par of 72, covering 6,892 yards while the ladies' par is 74 and covers 5,853 yards. The first hole is a 349- yard par four for men ad 329- yard par 4 for ladies.
The second hole is a 394- yard par four for men and a 326- yard par four for ladies. After putting out a number one's hole you follow a path leading down hill to a tee, which has been cut out of the side of the hill. It appears to just hang there. The land drops off sharply at the end of the ladies tee and then begins an up hill rise to the green.
The toughest hole in this course is hole number 7. While the hole measures 465 yards for men and is played to a par 4, the ladies play it to 443 yards as a par five. The terrain is such that reaching the green in two, for the men to have a chance at par, is a monumental task. The tee is one of the very few at ground level. Heavy rough extends out in front of the tee far about 75 yards. The hole is very sharp.

Limuru Country & Golf Club

The Limuru Golf club sits 7000 feet above sea level and amidst the green highlands home of the world’s finest tea buds.
The green carpet of natural turf remains this way all year as the area receives optimum conditions favoring this.
The 18 holes completed in 1952 are great to play as the slopes and green views remain in your backdrop.
Limuru Country Clubs 18-hole golf course is extremely enjoyable to play. Not only is its tea country location aesthetically appealing, but the lush, green course is well manicured and well maintained.
The 40 minutes drive takes you up through verdant tea fields stretching for miles and miles on either side of the road. At an elevation of 7000 feet (2130 meters), the golf course receives more rainfall and provides a year-round lush green carpet of turf.

Location
The club is located just 25 kilometers from Nairobi and it’s surrounded by luxuriously verdant tea fields. It is an eighteen - hole course with the first nine holes opened on June 25 1949 by the president of the Kenya Golf Union, Mr. David Morgan, while the second nine holes were opened on February 8 1952.
The clubs eighteen - hole course is a delight to play and this combined with the ever - verdant fairways, cool climate and beautiful location makes the Limuru course very popular. Each year the club is finding more and more events.
Most sand traps are deep and have very large mounds to contend with. This is a delight to play and is guaranteed to have you coming back for more.
Facilities: Golf is the dominant activity the Club provides but it also provides other social facilities like;
1. The Cricket Pitch is situated right next to the practice range and at the front of the Club House. It is the only cricket pitch in East Africa that has a grass Wicket.
